The Providence Bike Collective changed their name to Lefty Loosey Bike Collective recently, and held a party on Saturday to celebrate. Bike collective members Shelby and Chris said the old name was just a placeholder, and that the new one is a faster way to let people know that they're commmitted to leftist values like redistribution.
On a weekly basis, members give out bikes to people who need them, and hold open hours where people can get help learning how to repair their bike, or do it themselves with the workshop's tools. The collective recently launched a workshop event series that includes bike and non-bike related topics like esoteric synth programming, and how to eat well on a long biking trip.
